"Never work with children or animals" they say. Well I don't agree, personally I love to work with both and recently this was really put to the test as I was hired to photograph the first birthday party of a little boy named Mikhail.
I arrived at the house before the rest of the guests and was able to get some lovely shots of the birthday boy with his parents.
We then had the joy of the Cake Smash. For those not familiar this is where the child is given a cake and actively encouraged to attack it in any way they please. In this instance Mika was far too polite to create absolute carnage though it did end up all over him.
The guests duly arrived and hundreds of photos were taken (don't worry I'm not going to make you go through them all). For events like this I like to capture a lot of candid images that really portray the atmosphere of the party. Of course there are also the more traditional pictures of the guests, food, decorations etc.
I was really happy with the way the pictures turned out and so too was my client (who has kindly given permission for me to use the images for this).
